Electronic Communications

All information and announcements are posted on our website at https://admissions.alaskabar.org/home. You are expected to regularly visit the Alaska Bar Association’s website to review the announcements and information posted there. The Alaska Bar Association corresponds with applicants primarily via the online system. You should use an e­mail address that you can access even after graduation from law school. You are required to maintain a current e­mail address and mailing address on your personal Alaska Bar Association Registration Account, and it is imperative that you regularly read all correspondence from this office, whether sent electronically or by postal service. It is your responsibility to ensure that e­mails from the Alaska Bar Association are not filtered as spam and to add @alaskabar.org to your e­mail address book.

NCBE Number

If you have not done so already request an NCBE number. Request an NCBE number online at http://www.ncbex.org/ncbe-number. Once you have an NCBE number you will use the same number no matter where you took the MBE.

Application Checklist

This checklist is only a guide to ensure you submit all the required items. Complete information can be found on our website.

  • Reapplication - Complete and submit the electronic portion of your application. Do not submit the electronic application in paper form. You will be asked to provide any information that has changed or should be updated from the time of your last application.
  • Filing Fee - Payment of admission fees can be made by credit card or via PayPal. If you need to set up a PayPal account, you can do that by clicking here.
  • Authorization and Release form - must be signed, notarized, and may be mailed. Once you have submitted your application electronically, you may also upload the signed and notarized Authorization and Release form by clicking on the "Upload New Document" button located in the bottom right corner of your user home page.
  • Photo Submission Form - must include TWO passport sized (2x2) photos; must be mailed to Bar.

Supplemental Application Materials

Once you have submitted your application electronically, you may also upload any of these additional items, if applicable, by clicking on the "Upload New Document" button located in the bottom right corner of your user home page.

  • Non-standard Testing Accommodations Request form. If you previously submitted these forms and the accommodation you’re requesting has not changed, you DO NOT need to resubmit them again. You do need to submit a written request to have the same accommodations.
  • ExamSoft Registration form to use laptop computer.
  • Applicants with a military history must submit a Standard Form 180 - unless provided with your previous application.
  • Resident aliens must submit with their application an appropriate affidavit specifying sufficient facts to enable the Alaska Bar to verify his or her status with the Immigration & Naturalization Service.

    The affidavit should contain the following:

    • A statement that the individual is swearing under oath to the truthfulness of the information contained in the affidavit and any attachments.
    • The information being sworn to
    • Signature
    • And an attestation of a notary public or other official authorized to administer oaths.
