REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must provide the following:
- An application approved by the Board of Governors.
- Certificate of good standing from each jurisdiction admitted; must have been issued within the previous three months.
Qualified Legal Service Providers
A “qualified legal services provider” is a not-for-profit organization that regularly provides legal services to persons of limited means and is approved by the Board of Governors. A list of organizations approved as qualified legal services providers under Rule 43.2 can be found here.
Termination
The permission to practice ceases to be effective when:
- The qualified legal service provider is no longer supervising the out-of-state attorney; or
- The out-of-state attorney is no longer in good standing in any jurisdiction; or
- The out-of-state attorney has been subject to public discipline for professional misconduct in any jurisdiction
The qualified legal service provider must notify the Alaska Bar Association when it is no longer supervising the out-of-state attorney.
